Fear not, fellow triathletes! This guide will break down the essentials, from sprints to 140.6, ensuring you’re ready to conquer any challenge.
Essential Gear for every Distance
No matter the distance, some items are non-negotiable. Here’s your baseline checklist:
For Olympic Distance
- More nutrition
- More hydration
For full or half Ironman Distance
- Even more nutrition and hydration
- Change of clothes – for each transition in your special needs bags, should you want to
- Meds – Advil, Tums, Imodium, whatever you may need in case of pain or gastro distress
- Headlamp – if you anticipate that you will be running in the dark, you’ll want to pack one of these in your run special needs bag.
By following this checklist, you’ll be well-prepared to tackle any triathlon distance. Remember, the key is to be organized, comfortable, and confident.

Good luck and Happy Racing!
